Jul. 4th, 2005 06:22 pmR and I are back from Tajikistan safe and sound. It was an amazing trip full of major ups and downs. I got great research done and made some really valuable contacts. Tajikistan is beautiful and I think I got enough info to insert into my dissertation and maybe write a grant to come back at some point. Oh and the lady we stayed with sewed me a uzbekimumu out of cotton 'adras' patterned fabric. It is so comfortable!
The downsides of the trip were: R got his wallet stolen, our taxi kept having trouble as we were driving over mountain passes (scary!), and our taxi to the border took us to the wrong border and they wouldn't let us out of the country there. We had to drop another 15 dollars and get fed a bunch of drama to get to our proper crossing.
I'm exhausted and I think I have traveller's tummy and I know I have flea bites in the thousands, but I'm glad to be home! (well at least where home is for the next 3 weeks).
Happy 4th everyone!
