Wow the last few days have been just full of guesting and bell peppers. literally, this weekend we had 3 different people to go visit and they ALL served us stuffed bell peppers. I guess they are in season, though they certainly have been around for a while. I think they are just really cheap now, like tomatoes and cucumbers. I love being able to get salad makings for $.20.
Anyway, I have issues with bell peppers - I am obviously missing some vital digestive enzyme, since eating even a small amount gives me gas. Eating a large amount gives me heinous gut rumbly noxious gas.
Unfortunately the laws of hospitality and politeness here (and anywhere really) means that I can not tell my host who has graciously prepared me yet another serving of stuffed bell peppers that everyone in the room most especially my husband will be happier if I don't eat the pepper. Come to think of it I don't even know the Uzbek word for "gas" in the gastrointestinal sense, so it would be moot to try to explain myself. So I eat them. I eat one and try to dodge as much pepper as I can and I get told "oling" (take some). I try to dodge and be grateful and always end up with 2 or 3 stuffed peppers in my gut out of guilt and politeness. And we always pay for it a few hours later.
Rich slept in the other room last night - apparently I was snoring and farting in counterpoint....
We're not going guesting for the next couple days so that everyone can recover.
9 days until lift off
