I had an interview with the director of the Sogiana orchestra and passed the translation I did to Ozoda opa, which sparked the funniest bout of anti-evil advice I have ever gotten. It went something like this:
Ozoda: (at the end of the typical greeting exchanges) How is your husband?
Me: My husband is doing well, he's home packing.
O: Oh really, how wonderful, kuz tegmasin! (don't let the evil eye touch it)
M: Yeah I'm really grateful for all his help.
O: Do you have a kuzminchok? (anti evil eye talisman)
M: Yes, I have one at home.
O: Well you should wear it! And you should make him wear one too! Come to think of it you need more than that, good men are hard to keep - I'll tell you what to do. You should take 7 isriq (insense) seeds, 7 black sesame seeds, 7 hot pepper seeds, and 7 stones from rice sorting and sew them into every article of clothing he wears. Make sure you sew it on the right side in one of his pockets. You should do it for youself, except sew them into your bra strap near your heart.
M: Uhhh okay thanks.
O: Really, it works, there was this Kurash wrestler who was completely unbeatable becasue he sewed the 7 seeds into all his uniforms, noone could knock him down.
M: wow....
