Sep. 26th, 2007 05:38 pm*sigh* The universe is conspiring against my ability to have screen-based relaxation. I have been trying to acquire a television and VCR or DVD player for about a week now. My first foray to the salvation army netted me a 13" TV/VCR combo for $40 that turned on beautifully in the store, so I was psyched. I took it home, plugged it in, popped in a tape, and turned it on. It turned it self off about 20 seconds later. I toyed with it, turned it on about 3 more times (it shut itself down each time), and decided to return it to the store. I did so, getting salvation army store credit, but didn't see anything I really wanted in terms of combos, so I left.
A few days ago I was in Target, and DVD players were on sale for $35. Great I thought, and picked one up, since I'd been warned against 2 in 1s, but thought it would be my only affordable option.
So today back I go to use my store credit at the salvation army and bring home a TV. Most of the TVs there right now are in the $80-$100 range and are BIG. However, I find a Sharp 19" TV for $50 that stays on for quite a while, so I pay an extra $10 and take it home.
I get it home and pull my DVD player out of the box plugging them into the wall and then I set about to find the red, white, and yellow A/V in plugs on my new TV. Only to find out that they do not have any. No plugs. No DVD in put for tonight, no Crouching Tiger or Amelie with beers and dinner to relax before my 1st day of teaching. *GIANT POUT*
The internet says that all I need to do is buy an RF modulator or a stereo modulator (I assume they're the same) and hook the DVD player up to it and then to the cable input, which I checked, and my TV does indeed have. However, that acquisition will probably not happen tonight.
