Well R and I are now vaccinated against tetanus, hepatitis A and hepatitis B. The B booster is good for like 8-10 years, but hep-A is only good for 3 so if I want to keep coming back to places where public health is an issue I'll need more. The total for the 2 of us was $220.

They also wanted to give us the meningitis vaccine and the typhoid vaccine. I've heard scares of the meningitis vaccinne not being completely effective and sometimes that it gives people meningitis - or am I thinking of a different vaccine? I'm holding off on both of those because they would be another $200 and it doesn't seem all that likely. If we go to Tajikistan this spring I think we'll get the tyhpoid vaccine. I wish I new more about the arguments not to vaccinate children, about vaccines as harmful, etc. I do not feel like an informed patient at all and I know my doctor probably wouldn't tell me why not to get vaccinated.

The clinic was near a video game kiosk. I got sucked in for the rest of the day with Pirates: Live the life. It runs a little funny on my computer sometimes, but it is still a very fun game.

Oh and happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] prizmdonna I hope you've had a happy one.

Yeah it really does - but the sword fights run really slow for me and also whenever my ship is on fire.

Have you found a way to adjust the particle stuff with the graphics to make it run better?

It slows down a little for me at those times but only just barely perceptibly. I have a pretty rockin' graphics card...

According to the hubby, we've got the best video card that can be put in a laptop and we don't have any trouble running other graphic-intensive games like diabolo or war craft - and it seems to be unpredictable. At first I thought it just ran slow when there was fire or smoke or clouds, now I notice that it runs slow a lot more randomly than that :)

(I suppose that's what I get for buying the $3 version from the kiosk by the bus stop)

Huh. That's interesting. I don't know... you might be right about the particle thing. I don't really notice too much of a slowdown...
