The wonders of Uzbek life never cease.
About five minutes ago I got a call from the fine arts institute. Apparently they had been trying to call me earlier this morning but I was on the phone and internet trying to get my paper ready to give at 10 AM this morning (i.e. and hour and a half from now).
Now I find out that I'm not going to present it this morning.
The conference has been cancelled due to the opening of the new Senate building (which apparently noone knew about beforehand). All the roads around the institute are blocked off, so they are postponing the conference until Feb. 8.
I don't even know how to react. This is so absurd on so many levels. I have called in so many favors from busy people to get this paper ready and disrupted the lives and schedules of at least 3 people besides myself. Insanity.
I guess this is what I get for reacting to things with American expectations.
