night skiing

tonight was the most amazing night of skiing that I've had in such a long time. It was probably the best conditions I've skiied in in PA. It was just a hair warmer than freezing with ample amounts of packed, well groomed snow. All the runs at my dad's ski resort (well its not his, but the one he ski patrols at) were open and it was just beautiful. Coming off the lift you could see all the ice covered trees and the glistening forested hills. The sunset was soft and subtle with pinks and purples melding into the greys of the ice/snow covered hills. The ski slopes overlook an old coal mine and I am amazing how a dusting of snow and the setting sun can even make THAT look beautiful. I took 15 runs and stopped around 8 pm becuase my toes were getting cold. I was amazed my thighs didn't peter out, but I was going faster and more confidently than usual becuase of the great conditions, so I didn't have to break as much which is all quadraceps.
After the skiing we went to the airport to pick up my suitcase and the nice man even carried it all the way to my car - my parents really do live in the 1950s - but it was awful nice.
