last day on the mountain

So yesterday I took my little brother skiing and it was so wonderful. We only got a little more than 3 hours in becuase it started raining, but before that the conditions were beautiful. It was 54 degrees out and the conditions were just like spring skiing - fast and soft. Plus my brother didn't have any of his cohort with him so he actually skiied a fair amount with me. I went down two trails I'd never been down before both of which were not as yikes-y as I thought they would be. My brother reminded me of the skiing adage that you should get into your 'yikes zone' once a day. I certainly was in my yikes zone when my mom took me down Imperial last week, but I didn't quite go yikes on any of the trails I went down yesterday. It was funny, since I was in snowplow, making tight turns being very careful and I happened to see someone who was coming down behind me all swishy and parallel totally wipe out - not just sit down little fall, but ass over elbow, spread eagled, skis, poles, clothing in a tangle. I thought to myself that yes I am being wimpy by snowplowing, but at least I'm not wiping out. So over this vacation the new trails I've tried have been: Imperial (which was way too yikesy, the 1st new one I tried), Outback, Cobra and Comet. I am really proud of my progression. Now all I need is a sugar daddy (or mommy, Im not picky) to buy me parabolic skis and take me to Mammoth.
I'm getting ready to head back to LA, I hope my mailbox isn't completely over run with mail and that roomie didn't leave the heat on for the past week. I think I'm ready to go back to work and get back to what I recognize as my real life, but I do wish that LA was closer to my family. It was good to be a part of their lives again for a few weeks.
