my super expensive noiseless stick

So I've decided to take up the nay, a middle eastern end blown bamboo flute. I am a windplay, conservatory trained and take great pride in the fact that I can pick out a tune on just about anything. I CANNOT MAKE A SOUND! That's right, I am completely incapable of even one little noise - this is a source of great consertnation and pouting in my life right now. I am eating quite a large serving of pride, and will give in and call the man who's selling it too me to give me a lesson tomorrow. This is day three of my attempts - I thought it was funny at rehearsal on saturday when one of the nay players was teasing me, blowing in it and telling me it's broken. (he then improvised a couple of beautiful lines on it). Now it is getting old. I am a capable musician, I can make a sound out of this fricking stick! How did people discover this instrument, if it is so hard to actually get the first sound out?


In other news, I spent last night playing mario party with donaithnen, sarisa, and rahvina. It was funny even in my groggy, rahvina's couch swallowed me for a big nap, mindset. Now I must get lots of work done becuase I have been such a lazy PMSing grad student this week.
