So I went to the SSRC meeting on campus today. Felt annoyed at having to spend $15 which is like a sixth of my money until the end of the month. And I don’t really want to be there - I'm sick and my neck is still a little achy and I resent my time and my bus fare being taken away. I am just not in a conferency mood - I know it is good to network and I tried to be good and ask leading and supportive questions but I went home at lunch because I just didn't want to spend any more time on campus on the weekend. And the scheduler did something really silly - the conference schedule is pretty sparse - the last panels before lunch only had 2 presenters and there is only one panel and a keynote after lunch. But then there are 2 sets of 2 panels of 2 people each tomorrow morning. Part of me wants to go see it because people I know will be presenting and it is on music and politics which is a topic I work on and enjoy. But buses on Sunday suck! and they cost full price because UCLA got cheap this year and only subsidizes our bus fare on the weekdays. And I want to go to the farmers market and relax and have a life this weekend. Not go to the remaining 2 hours of conference that some idiot scheduler couldn't squeeze into Saturday. Blargh.
