I don't think I do gift exchange with anyone on my friends list, so I feel safe posting this and not having it taken as a wish-list type thing.

This is the coolest thing evar - a variable temperature electric kettle. At some point I'm going to get one for myself, since I've been in the market for an electric kettle:

This way, in addition to not needing to fire up the stove every time I want to heat water, I also don't have to do the guesswork to get 180 degree water for green and white teas.

That's handy. Of course being fully in the grip of senescence, I can now use the

– switch on kettle
– return to desk
– become engaged with some task
– forget about kettle
– remember that I wanted tea
– return to kettle
